WHAT Did That Sign Say?

Thought for the day:  We all carry our own baggage through life, but our trip is much more meaningful if we're following an accurate road map.  [anonymous]

Sharing a picture of one of those funny dribbleglass billboards on last Friday's post reminded me that it's been much too long since we took a road trip together. Forget the road map, and forget the baggage; we're just gonna gawk at some silly roadside advertisements. Not REAL ones, mind you. These sprung from the fertile imaginations of those fine folks at dribbleglass who graciously granted me permission to share them with you.

Ready? Okay, climb into the bus, and let's see what we can find.

There. Find anything to make ya smile? If so, my job here is done. If not, guess I'll have to try harder next time.

Until then, take care of yourselves. And each other.

    1. My pleasure. We all need to give the gray matter a break, and just smile at something silly from time to time.

      Cheers!

  3. My face hurts. I started smiling early and the smile grew and grew and grew, until it didn't fit (then it just stayed there).
    Thank you.

    1. Oh, that's my kinda smile. Ya know, the kind that darned near go all the way around and meet at the back of your head...

  4. I enjoyed our road trip and I desperately needed something that was humorous and easy on my brain (or what's left of it....). There's always a heckuva lot of truth behind humor, isn't there?

As for Fuji - I never dreamed the day would come when film would be obsolete.
Those billboards with the gigantic asses of near-naked women undoubtedly cause lots of accidents (stupid male drivers, of course......).

    1. You're right... sometimes we need to give our brains the night off. (Kinda, sorta.)

I know what ya mean about film. We have so many overstuffed albums filled with old faded pictures... not to mention a bazillion boxes of pictures that are (ahem) still waiting for "someone" to put them in an album... it's probably a good thing we're only taking digital shots now. Our house couldn't handle another ton of picture albums.

  5. Ha Ha, I like the powerball one. That's my retirement plan. Win the lottery, retire.

    1. HA! I have a feeling it's the retirement plan for a LOT of people. One of these days, I'm gonna win it... if I ever get around to buying a ticket...

  6. I honestly cannot believe some of the advertising that is out there... do these company's really look at what they put out there? WOW... gives us something to laugh at... hahaha

    1. Some advertising is pretty "out there", but all of these billboards are FAKE. Just the figments of somebody's vivid imagination, designed to give us a chuckle or two. Kinda like the ads done in that movie "Crazy People," where a bunch of inmates in an asylum write off-the-wall advertising. Hilarious.

  7. I've heard several people say that the proper commercial for those quick pregnancy tests is not some smart looking couple but two teenagers with the look of fear on their faces.

    1. HA! An ad like that might not change anyone's behavior, but it sure would be realistic.

  8. I could use a road trip. Ah, the thought of getting away from it all. I'm going to go keep dreaming now.

  9. So funny. I will never look at road signs the same way again. I will be trying to see the funny in them.

  10. I like the one about eggs and the "five out of the seven people" on the Fuji Film sign. That word "the" is deceptively pivotal and makes the whole joke. I love it when an article steps up like that! :D

    1. Yep, even a lowly article can carry the load. The one about eggs cracks me up, too.

  11. LOL on the road
There seems to be a load

    That sure aren't a bore

    1. Yep, there's humor to be had
      From many a roadside ad,
      And yet, I'd rather see
      Less billboard, and more tree.

  12. What do they mean the lottery is retirement planning for dumb people? I don't get it. :P

    Ha! Great signs. :)

    1. Yeah, how DARE they insinuate playing the lottery isn't a viable retirement plan???

    1. Of course it was nonsense. No man can be persuaded by a pretty face, or um, other female attributes. That kind of thinking is strictly... behind us.

  16. Good ones Susan
They remind me of the old Burma shave signs. When we used to take car trips we always waited for those signs to appear. Someone in the car always said them out loud, in case anyone missed them.

  34. That made my day. Thanks for the comment on The Medicare Mom. I taught in a school that for 37 years had a graduating class between 400-600 each year. Not the same as a small school at all and the amount of scholarships attested to the fact that the small school kids got a good education. Jody, The Medicare Mom

    1. I don't have any experience at all with a small school. My husband and I graduated in a class of over 600, our kids went to fairly large schools, and all our grandchildren are in large schools. The small school graduation you described sounds wonderful, and much more personal. (It takes a LONG time to hand out 600 diplomas!)
