Party Time!!!

Thought for the day: We're all invited to a par-teeeee!

OK, so not exactly a party. More like a BBQ. Only better. Nobody has to chase dustballs from the house, scrub toilets, cut grass, pull out lawn chairs, make a bunch of food, or even get out of your jammies if you don't want to. It's a virtual Labor Day blogfest cook-out, hosted by Karen at
Coming Down the Mountain: A Writer's Blog

Pop on over to her blog and tell everybody what you're gonna bring. Me, I'm bringing a mess of steamed crabs and a chocolate rum cake. (Decadent!)

The purpose of this shindig is to meet some other bloggers. It's a social. A lovely tea, if you will. Only you can drink whatever the heck you want to drink. Check out some of the blogs of the other party animals you'll meet at Karen's place, and maybe some of them will check yours. It's an opportunity to pick up another follower or two. And to have some fun. Minus the need to clean up a bunch of post-party trash.

See ya there!

  1. Hi! I've stopped by after your comment on my Bang Out the Prose blog. I've brought cocktail sauce to go with your steamed crabs, if you like. Nice to meet you!

  2. Hi, Suz. Thank you, ma'am. The cocktail sauce sounds good for steamed shrimp . . . maybe I'd better throw some of them on the stove, too.

  3. Sounds like my kind of party. I think I'll cook up a mess of ribs.

  4. Hi Susan. I heard there was cake!

Nice to meet you via the BBQ. Great idea on Karen's part. :)

Looking forward to reading more of your blog.

Hi, L.G. Yeah, one can never have too much cake, can one? Thanks for stopping by. Good to meet you, and ditto, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your blog, too.

Hi, Anne. It's a fun easy way to meet some other bloggers. Those beans sound good. I must be ready for lunch . . .

  7. Hi Karen .. could you possibly get a message to Susan Flett Swiderski at ...
and let her know I can't comment as blogger won't let me .. and this is the comment I wanted to post:

Hi Susan - great to meet you and thanks for following and subscribing .. it's a great BBQ blogfest .. and a pleasure to meet you.

I very definitely fancy some of your steamed crabs .. and that cake sounds good ..

Sadly I can't comment - tried all ways, so am very kindly asking Karen if she could let you know - ..

If comments are embedded some bloggers can't comment - occasionally it'll let me enter my details, after I've changed browser .. but with yours no - if you could use the pop up box, or the full page - it seems to release it and then I can comment and visit more often.

Many thanks - enjoy your bank holiday weekend .. cheers Hilary

You know the problems re these wretched comments - crumbs it's a pain .. many many thanks - Hilary

    Hope you're having a lovely weekend .. H

  8. Love steamed crabs and your blog! Thanks so much for stopping by and for following! Looking forward to following you, too!

  9. Hi, Karen. Thank you so much for relaying the message, dear lady.

Hi, Hilary. Sorry for the problems posting a comment. Blogger can be a difficult pain in the derriere at time, but I appreciate you sticking with it and passing a comment through Karen. I hope it plays nice with you in the future.

Hi, Marguerite. Great. The crabs are hot and the beer is cold. (Not really. I don't like beer, but it SOUNDS good.)

  10. Steamed crabs sound great, and I love your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine :)

  11. Hi, Claire. Thank you, ma'am. Welcome aboard!

  12. Hi, Susan, I'm dropping in from Karen's BBQ, via a blog where you commented ahead of me. I was rolling the mouse out when I somehow clicked onto your site. Happy I did. You've got a really blog going here. (Love the title!) I'm happy to be your latest follower.

  14. You had me at chocolate rum cake. :)

Nice connecting with you today, Susan!

  15. Can't resist the steamed crabs! Popping over from Karen G's.

Incidently, I enjoyed your Conneticut post also :) Lovely pictures and stories. What a great place you live in.

  16. I was out last night at a HUGE party, so I think I'll stay home. However, I'll send over some fresh figs, some late peaches, and a crate of local Vino. Have fun..... now where's my aspirins?

  19. Susan, Thanks for the shout out and the link love! Hope you are enjoying the BBQ! I gotta get me some of your crab befor its all gone.

  20. How about I bring some escargot. After all the rain we have gotten, I can pick quite a few of them out of my gardens. Fried or baked?

  21. Hi, All. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Kittie- Whether ya found me by mistake or found me on purpose, I'm glad you're here. Welcome aboard.

Donna- Better get some watermelon to top it off!

Liz- What's not to love about chocolate rum cake? Good to meet you.

Donna- Welcome aboard, ma'am. Yeah, steamed crabs are one of our favorite indulgences. Glad you liked the CT post, but it isn't "my" state. We hail from MD, but moved to GA in '71. I've been highlighting one state each Friday . . . in alphabetical order. Started out as a way to make fun of some of the cockamamie laws still on the books, but it's taken on a life of its own. Fun, though!

Cro- Not a huge fan of figs, but peaches and wine ... all RIGHT!

Jeremy- Thank you, sir. Welcome aboard.

Jess- Ah, another crab lover! Welcome. Hope your hubby's birthday party is a huge success.

Karen- My pleasure, ma'am. And thank you for hosting the fun.

Starting Over- Ummmmm, thanks, but I'd rather eat the wet grass. Have a great weekend.

  22. Hi Susan! Thanks for coming by my blog, I'm stopping in to grab some of that decadent chocolate cake, yum! So glad to meet you, and I'm looking forward to following. Love the title of your blog and the Mrs. Potato Head! :)

  23. Hi-ya, Julie. My pleasure, and thanks for returning the call. Glad you like the weirdo title. (kinda suits me!)

  24. Hi Susan! I've come from Karen's BBQ and wanted to visit your blog and say hello! Love your attitude and look too young to be a grandma! :) So great to meet you. I'll be back soon for another visit!

  25. I am loving the BBQ and meeting so many new bloggy friends. Look forward to reading lots more "fun" facts in the future.

  26. Hi, Betsy. Thank you so much for stopping by, dear lady. (pssst, I've always looked younger than my age, but there's a painting of me that looks a hundred and fifty.) I'll be visiting your blog in a little bit.

Hi, Liza. Yeah, this has been fun, even if my husband has been teasing me over it. (He doesn't get the point of blogging, let alone a "virtual BBQ" ... that's an engineer for ya! )Great to meetcha.
